Their network wasn’t working properly, the main server intermittently stopped communicating and they were having computer virus problems. So this landscape garden design and installation company got in touch with us to see if we could help as Brighton IT Support providers.
We visited their offices to audit their computer network equipment and build an inventory of their hardware and software. Then we initially set about troubleshooting the problems they were having. We replaced the network switch which was old and unreliable and changed the motherboard in the server which had a faulty network port. Scanning the computers and servers and installing a solid antivirus product on them all eradicated the virus problem. There was also some concern over internet security so we fitted a new internet firewall and configured virtual private networking on it so that staff could remotely access the network securely.
Having dealt with the immediate problems we were asked to make some improvements. The managing director is a heavy Blackberry user, so we installed Blackberry Enterprise Server software to provide an improved level of service and greater functionality like the ability to edit his Outlook calendar. We also integrated some new Macs into their Microsoft Server environment and configured the server and firewall to enable iPhone and Android users to receive business email and manage their Outlook calendars too.
More improvements are planned, but for now we have moved into an IT Support phase for this Brighton based business.
