Case Study: Increasing efficiency
Problem
This pharmaceutical supply company were interested in making their remote working systems more efficient. When they contacted us they were experiencing very slow internet connections, but their main problem was that management and sales people who work offsite were finding it very hard to work efficiently. The existing system was over capacity and under-powered. Because of all this, they were suffering from poor voice and data communications between remote sites and their primary locations.
Solution
To solve the issues with the internet speed, we installed a high capacity fibre internet connection with a secure firewall that was more capable than the previous one. To improve their remote working capacity, we installed a new server that offered a higher capacity to deal with remote desktop services. We also provided an IP based telephone system with configured Virtual Private Networks for remote sites and roaming users.

Case study: An upgrade
Problem
This performance venue was struggling with their web presence IT set up. Their internet connections were too slow and unreliable, their Virtual Private Network kept going down and their offsite servers weren't working efficiently.
On analysis, we discovered that the server was being hosted in a place that was excessively costly, and that the server itself was very old. Getting access to it was also difficult and time consuming for in-house staff.
Solution
To solve these problems we installed a reliable high capacity internet connection at the venue, along with firewalls both onsite and offsite at the datacenter. This achieved our main aim, to accelerate the internet connection and boost it's reliability. We then configured and tested a new Virtual Private Network. Changing over a server can seem risky to big businesses, but we took care of it all with minimum interruption.
To make the server storage more economical, we also helped the venue find a nearer and more cost effective datacenter.

This national sports retailer needed us to think outside the box. We helped them find an economical way to expand their wireless internet capacity across four of their warehouses.

Case study: Lateral thinking
Problem
This national sports retailer was looking for an IT services company in Sussex to help them with a very specific Wi-Fi network installation problem. They have four warehouses, all of which are close to each other, but the network they were using was far too slow for the amount of data that needed to travel between the warehouses.
They wanted us to find an economical way to connect the warehouses without having to upgrade the internet connections, or digging up the road to run fibre cables between the sites.
Solution
Wi-Fi network installation involves conducting a survey of the site and testing signals to check for potential Wi-Fi obstructions. With careful planning, we installed weather resistant wireless equipment to the outside of the warehouses using a cherry picker. Once this work was complete, we installed network cabling to connect the wireless equipment to the existing network infrastructure. With careful testing and optimisation using specialist tools, the warehouses are now running on a very efficient and cost effective wireless network.

This music college in Sussex came to us because they were low on space for their IT systems. They ran out of physical storage for IT equipment, and they were low on server space, so they needed a sustainable plan for expansion.

Case Study: Room to grow
Problem
This music college were looking for local IT services in Sussex to help them with their storage issues. The IT room was running out of physical space and their existing servers were running out of space to store data. When we looked at their set up, it also became clear that they didn’t have sufficient processing capability for running new applications. The expanding organisation needed to find room to grow.
Solution
To take care of the issues with physical space, we surveyed the main building to find a new location for IT equipment. Once we’d found the space, we mounted a storage rack for their equipment. We then ran cabling and installed switches to connect the new equipment to the existing infrastructure.
The next task was to conduct data and application capacity planning. We needed to do this in order to establish the specification for the new servers. This process resulted in the installation of four new servers, reconfiguring the desktops to work with the servers, as well as installing higher capacity internet connections and firewalls to give them sufficient bandwidth. The music college is now able to run new applications and has a much more streamlined IT setup that allows them room to grow.

Monthly server maintenance was included, which means we now regularly help them by installing updates, checking storage capacity, looking out for signs of software or hardware failure, keeping an eye on antivirus software status and checking the backups.

This financial services company needed emergency IT support from a local Brighton company when a server started failing, but we stuck by them once the emergency was fixed and helped them with all aspects of their systems.

Case Study: Emergency support
Problem
The Financial Services company called on us when it looked like one of the servers was imminently going to fail. As a local Brighton IT company, we were perfectly placed to go in and solve the problem straight away. The server itself was old, and out of warranty, and was no longer suitable for the amount of data storage that the company needed. The server needed to be replaced with minimum disruption to the company’s workflow.
Solution
We did some emergency maintenance on the server to make sure it stayed alive while we made a plan for the changeover. Once the capacity planning was done, we supplied and installed a new server to match the business requirements. We then migrated all the live data across. To minimise disruption to the business, we worked out of hours to reconfigure all the workstations. We then also reconfigured everyone’s Blackberries, iPads and remote working computers. Financial services companies have industry specific application providers – so we worked with these providers to get the applications running on the new server.
